In some modern versions of the story, especially versions for very young children, the grandmother does not die. He then frees the heroine from the animal's stomach. In their version, a huntsman slays the child-devouring wolf. It is a little different from the way that the Brothers Grimm tell it. The story has been changed many times in the centuries following its publication. In Perrault's story the girl is eaten and there is no happy ending. He wanted to show that a beautiful young woman was in danger of having men with bad morals try to trick her into wrong behaviour. Perrault wanted to make a strong point about wise and foolish behaviour. It is uncertain if Perrault knew a folk tale from the south of France about a girl who cleverly escapes a werewolf occupying her grandmother's bed. Perrault's version of the tale is the original printed version, but it is likely based on an older oral tradition. The story is called The Little Red Cap ( Le Petit Chaperon Rouge). The name of the book, in English, is Tales and Stories of the Past with Morals: Tales of Mother Goose. The story was first written and published in a book from 1697 by the French writer Charles Perrault. The Brothers Grimm and other later authors added male heroes who save Red Riding Hood. She uses her own intelligence and her own courage. In these early versions of the story, Red Riding Hood escapes on her own. But the girl puts the rope around something else, and escapes. The wolf ties her with a long string so that she cannot run away without him knowing. She says that she needs to use the toilet first. The wolf tells the girl to throw all her clothes in the fire, and get into bed. It is part of the body of her grandmother. In one version of the story, the wolf gives the girl some food to eat. In the old versions of the story the wolf is sometimes a terrible monster or a werewolf. There are also versions of the story from the Middle East and Africa. There is also a story from China which is like this, called The Grandmother Tiger. In France, the story has probably been told for at least 700 years. One of Aesop's Fables is a version of Little Red Riding Hood, according to Tehrani. ![]() Jamie Tehrani said some versions of Little Red Riding Hood are 3000 years old. The dialogue continues, with the child remarking upon other body parts until she notes the wolf's big teeth. "The better to see you with!" the wolf responds. In the Perrault version, the girl is surprised to see what her "grandmother" looks like without her clothes. When the girl arrives at her grandmother's house, she gets into bed with the wolf. He puts on the grandmother's night-cap and gets into her bed. ![]() While she is picking flowers, the wolf goes to grandmother's house and eats her. The wolf tells the girl to pick some flowers for her grandmother. The girl answers him, because he seems friendly. The wolf politely asks the girl where she is going. A wolf sees the girl walking through the woods and makes a plan to eat her. The mother tells her she must not stop on the way. Her mother sends her to take food to her sick grandmother. In this German picture-book, Red Riding Hood has poured a glass of beer for her Grandmother.Ī girl has been given red cap (or cloak and hood) to wear. The title of the story is properly translated as "Little Red Cap" even though it is usually known in English as "Little Red Riding Hood". But their book became famous as a book of children's stories anyway. They did not originally mean for their book to be read as children's stories they were writing down German folklore for scholars to read. The Brothers Grimm listened to many traditional stories from old people and wrote them into a book. The most famous version of the story is the one written by the Brothers Grimm in the 19th century. The best-known version (the way the story is told) is Rotkäppchen by the Brothers Grimm and dates from the 19th century (1800s). It was first written down in the late 1600s, by Charles Perrault. The story comes from a folktale which means that it was a spoken story for a long time before it was a written story. " Little Red Riding Hood" (or " Little Red Cap") is a French fairy tale for young children about a young girl and a wolf. A picture by French illustrator Gustave Doré ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Įxcretion: Statins are extensively metabolized, and the amount of statin excreted in its unchanged form through renal elimination is comparatively less. Atorvastatin and lovastatin are both substrates and inhibitors of P-gp(permeability glycoprotein). OATPB1(organic anion-transporting polyprotein) plays a role in eliminating atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, simvastatin, pitavastatin, and pravastatin, while OATPB3 is involved in the elimination of rosuvastatin, fluvastatin, and pravastatin. Rosuvastatin is metabolized(to a lesser degree) by CYP2C9 and CYP2C19. Metabolism: CYP3A4 plays a crucial role in the metabolism of atorvastatin, lovastatin, and simvastatin. Hydrophilic statins pravastatin and to and rosuvastatin are attached to the polar surface of the cell membrane and require protein transporters to enter the cell to inhibit the HMG-CoA reductase. Lipophilic statins can penetrate cells by passive diffusion and are widely distributed in different tissues. All statins have high plasma protein binding(PPB) except pravastatin(PPB ~50%). ĭistribution: Protein binding affects drug distribution and the pharmacological efficacy of drugs because only the unbound or free drug can elicit targeted effects. Simvastatin and lovastatin are prodrugs converted to an active form by hydrolysis. The bioavailability of pitavastatin is highest (>60%), followed by rosuvastatin(20%), while simvastatin has <5% bioavailability. Atorvastatin is completely absorbed after oral administration, but atorvastatin undergoes extensive first-pass metabolism hence the bioavailability is about 12%. Ībsorption: Absorption is faster for lipophilic drugs like atorvastatin, simvastatin, fluvastatin, pitavastatin, and lovastatin than hydrophilic statins like rosuvastatin or pravastatin. The COSMOS (coronary atherosclerosis Study measuring the effects of rosuvastatin using intravascular ultrasound in Japanese subjects) trial results indicated that patients treated with rosuvastatin had a substantial decrease in plaque volume independent of LDL-C reduction. This pleiotropic effect is the class effect of statins and is demonstrated by all statins. ![]() In addition, they promote plaque stability and prevent platelet aggregation. Consequently, statins have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory effects. Statins inhibit the synthesis of isoprenoid intermediates required for activating intracellular/signaling proteins(Ras, Rho, Rab, Rac, Ral, or Rap). HMG CoA reductase inhibitors have pleiotropic effects. The RhoA gene may play an important role in statin's LDL-C response. Drug responses may also differ according to genetic factors, such as the ATP binding cassette G2, lipoprotein(a), and apo E genes. Statin treatment reduces the hepatic production rate of apo B100 containing lipoproteins, leading to a decrease in both cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations. By reducing hepatic cholesterol synthesis, an upregulation of LDL receptors and increased hepatic uptake of LDL-cholesterol from the circulation occurs. Statins are a selective, competitive inhibitor of hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA (HMG-CoA) reductase, the enzyme responsible for converting HMG-CoA to mevalonate in the cholesterol synthesis pathway. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Maddie Reply Report ajw22 Gold Supporter TFP Guide 32,923 Northern NJ Pool Size 35000 Surface PlasterĬlorox 81040CLX Premium Pool Salt, 40lb, White fifty eight $33.00 & Free Shipping More items to discover of one Start over AQUASALT Aquasalt-forty Swimming Pool and Spa Chlorine Generator Salt-forty lbs. In low-friction regions, like the arch, the midsole foam is actually exposed.Īt first, I was skeptical about using abrasion-prone foam in an outsole, but as long as the foam isn’t in a high-wear spot, it seems to work just fine. It’s lighter and more cushioned than pure rubber but more wear-resistant than pure foam. In high-friction areas on the outsole (think forefoot and heel), the Cavu features a thick layer of proprietary R-MAT, which is a blend of midsole foam and rubber. Heel-toe stack height is 24mm/20mm (men’s), and 22/18 (women’s), giving a 4mm drop. The Odyssey Pro 2 is on par with the Cavu, but the latter has a smoother heel-to-toe transition and better cushioning. The only faster shoes in my closet are the aforementioned Asics flat and the Nike VaporFly 4%, which I raced in for Houston. For context, my Houston goal was sub-2:30, and my harder efforts were in the low five-minute-per-mile range. ![]() However, it’s still pliable, not slappy, and with 20 millimeters of foam and soft foam-rubber outsole under the forefoot, it does not feel thin like other fast trainers, such as the Salomon Sonic Pro 2 (read my review), which is only 16mm at the toe and uses a harder outsole compound.Īs a neutral shoe with a responsive forefoot and 8.2-ounce weight (men’s size 9), the Cavu feels like a natural at high speeds. The forefoot is stiffer than any Hoka shoe I have worn. The heel cushioning feels on par with the Clifton 4 or Challenger ATR 4, but it’s not marshmallowy like the Clifton 2 or Speedgoat 2. The Cavu has a two-foam midsole: a soft and forgiving heel and a firm and responsive forefoot. The transition between soft and firm foams is continuous, not abrupt-the two midsole foams transition over a zone, without a concrete line or seam. The Cavu’s ProFLY midsole is soft in the heel for a forgiving landing and firmer in the forefoot for a more responsive push-off. As a generally efficient runner, I prefer my shoes this way. The Cavu is a neutral trainer with only four millimeters of drop from heel to toe, and it has no deliberate stabilizing or supportive features. The Cavu fits true to size, based on my experience. I am a size 11.5 in other Hoka models (Clifton 2, Clifton 4, Speedgoat 2, Challenger 4) and in other brands (including Altra, Merrell, Salomon, and Salewa), and a size 45.5 in La Sportiva. It fits most similar to the Challenger, but doesn’t feel similar to either. The Cavu shares the same last and similar sock inserts as the new Challenger ATR 4 (red) and Clifton 4 (right). Versus the Clifton 2 and Speedgoat 2, the Cavu is wider throughout, particularly in the toebox. However, the Challenger has a vastly different outsole (four-millimeter lugs), midsole (softer), and upper (reinforced toe bumper and forefoot overlays). In the Cavu, I feel more centered, as I do in the Challenger ATR 4. ![]() To me, the axis of the Clifton 4 feels off by a few degrees, with my big toe and arch skewed toward the inside edge of the shoe. The Cavu shares the same last as the Clifton 4 and new Challenger ATR 4, but it fits and feels different than both. RMAT outsole (blended rubber and foam) with exposed midsole foamĪverage-width feet will best fit the Cavu, but wider feet may find that the soft and unstructured upper is acceptably forgiving, and narrower feet (like mine) may feel secure enough with a simple tightening of the laces.ProFly midsole: firm forefoot, softer heel.Stack height: 24/20 mm (men’s), 22/18 mm (women’s) for heel/forefoot.Weight: 8.2 oz (men’s size 9) 6.6 oz (women’s size 7) 9 oz for men’s size 11.5 (verified). It will be released around the same time as the new Mach, which is the next-generation Clayton 2. I was able to obtain a production-quality sample in my size from Hoka for review. Want a pair? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait until next month. And for others, it could be race-worthy in faster events. For veteran-but-not-elite runners like me, it’s best for workouts or marathon-plus races. For Hoka’s sponsored trio of sub-2:14 marathoners, the Cavu may be a delightful daily trainer. This shoe is more durable and cushioned than a conventional racing flat like the Asics GEL-Hyper Speed 7 (read my review of that shoe), but it’s nimbler than a standard road runner like the Hoka One One Clifton 4 (again, my review). It will best fit feet of average width and volume. The Cavu is a neutral, lightweight road trainer that is moderately cushioned, responsive, and fast. In total, and over the course of 3.5 months, I put more than 280 miles on these road runners, including multiple 10Ks at race pace and long runs of up to 24 miles.
